Zephyr Photonics’ ruggedized active optical cables (AOCs) are EMI-resistant optical interconnects for harsh environments, ideal for high-speed data as well as low-speed control and sensor system communications. Custom connectors and solutions are available.
Key Features
Zephyr Photonics' AOCs deliver the following:
- Electrically pluggable, near-form, fit, function replacements allow for near-term program insertion
- Access the advantages of optical communications, e.g., high-bandwidth, EMI resistance, and significant reductions in size, weight and power (SWaP) while maintaining proven, ruggedized for the range of MIL-SPEC temperatures with blind-mateable connectors
- Enable optical communications for EMI sensitive control/sensor signals, including interface electronics, multiplexing/demultiplexing, addressing, and error correction
- Integration of high and low-speed communications capabilities into a single active optical cable compatible with current interfaces.
Bandwidths
- Low-Speed – Multirate data communication from DC to 2.5 Gbps (expandable to 10 Gbps and beyond)
- High-Speed – Aggregate multiple high-speed data links up to 10 Gbps over a single fiber strand or across multiple links integrated into one cable assembly
Connectors: D-Sub, MIL-DTL-38999, other blind-mateable connectors as well as custom connectors
Operating Temperature: -55°C to 125°C
Electrical Interface: 10/100/1000 Base-T, DVI, HD-SDI, RS-232/422/485, TTL, Mixed Signals, etc. Custom interfaces and combinations available
Power Consumption: Less than < 1 W per side
Distances: Over 100 to 300 meters
Key Benefits
- Better mission outcomes with most reliable in field performance
- Highest resolution rates for HD applications
- Improved EMI immunity for greater system reliability and security
- Improved mission duration with improvements in SWaP
- Support greater transmission distances and scalability to higher bandwidths for dismounted operations
