Avionics Parallel Transceiver

Zephyr Photonics’ parallel transceiver is a compact, low-profile, fiber-pluggable, optical transceiver with a broad operating temperature range and extreme tolerance to shock and vibration. The transceiver is designed for the harsh environment of avionics applications.

Performance

The Avionics Parallel Transceivers eliminate I/O bottlenecks, allowing more rapid and complete access to mission critical data. Its compact form helps to reduce SWaP, and supports fly-by-light applications taking advantage of the fact that fiber weighs less than 30 percent of its copper equivalent. The broadband transmission capabilities and improved temperature, shock and vibration resistance create configuration flexibility, enable longer mission durations and larger payloads, and enhanced system reliability. The transceivers are also EMI and EMP resistant helping to ensure their reliability in the event of power surges and lightning strikes.

Affordability

The Avionics Parallel Transceivers are designed for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The pluggable devices permits the replacement of fiber, rather than the entire transceiver, and additional cost savings are achieved by improving reliability by enhancing the module’s resistance to shock and vibrations qualifications to prevent fiber breakage and designing the transceivers for minimal waste. Additional costs are reduced by providing higher capacity, more capable components that can support extension of tech refresh windows, enhancing reliability which reduces maintenance, and enabling greater flexibility of fiber lengths with its pluggable module.

Security

The Avionics Parallel Transceivers wide operating temperature range delivers the performance necessary to use optics to eliminate EM mitigating eavesdropping while increasing the integrity of signals during missions.
